I wrote a Peddie News article featuring Peddie Beans and Leaves, a club dedicated to supplying Peddie with various kinds of tea and coffee biweekly.

Peddie Beans and Leaves installs espresso machine in the Grille

Beans and Leaves, Peddie's student-run beverage operation in the Grille, has been active since last year, regularly selling varied matcha flavors. In recent weeks, the club expanded its offerings to include hojicha and additional matcha varieties like osmanthus, strawberry, and gingerbread. This expansion has driven sales to nearly 1,000 drinks. During the January 7 Community Meeting, club leaders announced an exciting addition: a new fully automatic espresso machine.

Coco Zhou '26, club leader, explained: "Thanks to all your support and enthusiasm, we were able to bring in this beautiful, fully automatic espresso machine." The machine offers regular Americanos, espressos, and milk-based drinks like lattes, with available syrups for customization.

Operating Schedule and Guidelines:

The espresso machine will initially operate Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:00–8:30 a.m., aligned with Peddie's late-start schedule. If successful, Beans and Leaves intends to expand availability.

Sustainability Requirements:

Students must bring reusable tumblers or mugs. The club partners with PEST, a sustainability initiative that rewards reusable cup usage. Those whose cups don't fit may use provided yellow serving cups.

Operational Rules:

  • Only request hot drinks (ice supplies unavailable)
  • Don't adjust presets or cancel automatic cleaning prompts
  • Empty water from the automatic rinsing system when necessary

Zhou concluded: "This machine is something really special for Beans and Leaves, and I hope you all can help take care of this."
