Winter Musical "Mamma Mia!" ends with a great success

The theater productions at Peddie have consistently achieved significant success within the school community, and the 2026 winter musical is widely regarded as among the finest. This year's production of "Mamma Mia!" captivated audiences with compelling narratives and memorable musical numbers since its original 1999 premiere.

The plot centers on Sophie Sheridan (Hannah Fahmy '27), who seeks to identify her biological father by inviting three potential candidates to her wedding. This decision creates tension with her mother, Donna (Sanai Parrish '26), who wishes to keep her past concealed. The narrative explores themes of identity discovery, relationship-building, and emotional vulnerability as characters confront their personal truths.

The production ran from Wednesday, February 18, through Saturday, February 21, with one dress rehearsal and three performances at Geiger Reeves. The audience included students, faculty, parents, alumni, and community members from surrounding areas. "Tickets were sold out for its closing night," demonstrating the production's popularity.

Senior cast member Alvin Lyuh '26 reflected on the experience: "This would actually be my last Peddie production...Even during rehearsals...I was still having fun because I realized that I might miss this in the future."

Performer Chloé Cheng '27 noted that assembling the full production on stage proved most rewarding, despite the "tedious and tiring" technical processes. She emphasized how collaboration strengthened her performance skills, stating: "Watching my peers this year made me truly appreciate how greatly good acting elevates a show."

The production provided opportunities for skill development and community bonding, allowing seniors to conclude their theater careers meaningfully while enabling younger students to explore their artistic talents and passions.
