Dr. Bloom — If you're so smart

My dad's answer to 'what's the best major?' shaped how I think about learning—and why psychology is worth it.
When I was younger I asked my dad, "Dad, what major do you think is the best? What if I want to get a good job and be rich?" (I was only a third grader so I don't know where this came from all of a sudden back then.)
He gave me a surprising answer. "The major that you want to major in, obviously," he said, "Every day the world changes in some kind of way, so you don't know where and how you'll be able to apply what you learn. Just be good at what you do and it will turn out to be useful."
I feel like this can be applied to all kinds of study because ultimately it's another medium of learning more about the world we live in. And I'm happy that I am able to read from multiple advocates of psychology like you during my high school years. So even if it's not fancy physics or chemistry, and even if I might not be able to read people's minds like what other people think psychology majors would be able to do, I think psychology is worth it. Psychology works!
